Virginia Avenue Project

Lyn Wadleigh with the Virginia Avenue Project Team

"The Virginia Avenue Project is a free after-school program using the Arts in conjunction with long term, one-on-one mentoring to give children the skills to think creatively, critically and courageously about their lives. We begin working with our children at age six and they stay with us through high school. Since our inception 18 years ago, 100% of the Project kids have graduated from high school, 95% have gone to college and 98% are the first in their families to do so. The aim of every Project program is to give kids the experience of success and the self-confidence it inspires. Our Programs address the following goals:

To use the writing and performing arts to provide kids with tools for self-expression and increased academic performance.

To provide a supportive environment for kids to express a personal vision and experience validation from their peers.

To provide kids the opportunity to from meaningful relationships with caring, nurturing adults.

This fall, we entered into collaboration with New Los Angeles Charter School - a middle school for 300 children from Title One families growing up in LA's Mid-City and Mid-Wilshire districts."

The Spies family with BLINKNOW's Maggie Doyne

Dear Wadleigh Family,

I just wanted to thank you again for your generous contribution.  It
was a pleasure meeting your family this summer on my trip to the
states and learning about your love foundation. I have attached a
picture of the two children who have been given a scholarship in your
honor.  Their names are Roma and Veer Sunar.  They are brother and
sister.  Roma is 5 and is in our nursery class and Veer is 6 and is in
our Kindergarten.  Your contribution has provided Roma and Veer with
their uniforms, school shoes, books and school supplies, medical
support, a daily nutritious school lunch and schooling support for the
entire year.

Thank you for giving them this chance that they would not have had
otherwise.  Hope our paths cross again in the near future.

Every good wish,

Maggie Doyne

Annalisa Lubinski's Peanut Butter Project: Saving Children's Lives in Bolivia

Lyn, Vance, Justin and Jessica Wadleigh with Annalisa Lubinski

Children at the "House of Hope Orphanage" where Annalisa will begin her Peanut Butter Project

Dear Wadleigh Family,

You have no idea how touched and honored I am to receive such a generous contribution on behalf of Matt and all the LoVE he wanted to spread throughout the world.  Your contribution is going to be used in many ways and is going to help change many lives of orphans in Bolivia! Some of the money will go towards my peanut butter project.  Every morning for two months straight, I am going to put a huge spoonful of a peanut butter mixture on a piece of bread and feed it to children 5 years of age and under who are extremely malnourished.  This project will actually save many of their lives.  Some of the money will also be used to build a huge garden that will have many beans, vegetables and fruit.  I am also planning to provide them with milk, chickens, goats and a pig!  After all of this is done, the people in the orphanage should become self-sustainable relying on their own work.  Instead of eating rice and bread, these people will now be eating healthy meals and learning life long tools!!

Matt must be so proud of all you guys are doing in memory of him and his LoVE for people. The LoVE will really be shown in Bolivia with the poorest of the poor and the sickest of the sick…Thanks so much again!

Sincerely,

 Annalisa Lubinski
